Initial Communication
First off, if you are reading this, thank you for being here. This project is still in its infancy, but having you here is a good indication that we are making some initial steps in the right direction.
Maintain has gone through a few different iterations, with the current one being the most coherent. It started as a half-baked idea formed in a college dorm room. At the time, we noticed the unhealthy relationship students had with social media, especially in social settings, and set out on a lofty goal to fix things. After a few spectacular failures and some time away from this project, a revitalization sparked when the pandemic hit.
As of now, our primary objective with Maintain is to provide users a healthier alternative to staying connected and up to date with friends. A social app that focuses on simplicity and user needs as opposed to the archaic platforms we still use (i.e. facebook, instagram), which manipulate the attention of users and are full of cluttered unnecessary features. Undoubtedly, this is still a lofty goal, especially with a market that is almost entirely dominated by a single player. But, it would be a waste to not at least put our best attempt forward.
Maintain itself is still in early development, and what we mean by that is pretty much pre-development. For one of our earlier attempts with this project, we spent significant time and resources building an MVP, which ended up going to waste because the rest of the project was an incoherent mess. So this time around, we are focusing more on learning how to communicate Maintain within this market space. If we can gauge that there's notable demand, we will be off to the races with getting development up and running. So for the time being, we will be experimenting with different marketing approaches and figuring out ways to reach our intended audience.
We think Maintain is a fantastic idea, and it is vital to us that we do right by this idea. We have an unfolding vision that we are working towards, but it’s going to take some time and real perseverance for us to put all the puzzle pieces together.
We’ll have more updates in the near future, so thanks again for being here and taking the time to read this.
